Read about the historic Thompson Victorian:

The two story Queen Anne style farmhouse was built by Uriah Thompson in the 1860s.Uriah Thompson was considered to be the first major farmer in  Santa Cruz County. He purchased 180 acres upon which this farmhouse  was built.  The Thompson home and property was the site for many  social gatherings of the elite of Santa Cruz County during the late  1800's and early 1900's.  Uriah was married to Charlotte Rice and  they had one son Henry Thompson who became a renowned opera singer. The family was highly respected in the Santa Cruz community.

The house was sold to new owners about 1920 and again transferred ownership again to the Jones family. Then in 1961 Reuben and EuJane Johnson bought the 5 acre property for an investment. In 1971, their son Roderick Johnson moved in while attending UCSC. He shared  the house with various UCSC students and gained many friendships. Among these friends was his cherished friend and WAMM Member Richard Johnson.

The years went on and then in 1982 Rod met Jay Sharmer. 26 years,  many repairs and shared adventures later, the Thompson home and  gardens remain a legacy to Uriah .In 2007 the house was designated by Santa Cruz County as an  historic resource.
